Questions about hiring an AR studio
Short answers about cost, platforms, Spectacles, live events, and licensing.
What is The Augury?
The Augury, Inc. is a Nashville, Tennessee augmented reality studio. It builds custom Snapchat Lenses, Snap Spectacles and Specs experiences, live-event AR, TikTok Effect House effects, and custom AR avatars for streamers. It was founded by Phil Walton, creator of the Snapchat Potato.
How much does a custom Snapchat Lens cost?
Every project is quoted individually, because scope varies widely: a simple face effect, a branded character, and a full game are very different builds. Snap says Lens Studio is free to use and that publishing a Lens to Snapchat has no fee, so the cost of a Lens is the design and development behind it. To get a number, send the platform, goals, timing, and a budget range.
Which platforms does The Augury build for?
Snapchat Lenses, Snap Spectacles and Specs, Snap Camera Kit integrations inside other apps, TikTok Effect House effects, and custom AR avatars for streamers.
Can you build experiences for Snap Spectacles and Specs?
Yes. The Augury builds spatial Lens Studio experiences for Snap's AR glasses: games, branded experiences, and practical tools. See Spectacles and Specs.
Do you build AR for live events?
Yes. Formats include live camera face effects, image-marker AR that launches from badges, T-shirts, posters, and signage, AR magic mirrors, Snapchat scavenger hunts, and Camera Kit integrations in an event app. See live-event AR.
Who has The Augury worked with?
Clients include Nickelodeon, Paramount, Amazon Studios, Lionsgate, DoorDash, and Taco Bell. The studio has also made custom AR for streamers and independent creators. See the work.
Can a brand use the Potato character?
Personal, non-commercial use of the public Potato Lenses is free. Any use by or for a business, brand, or organization requires a written license from The Augury, Inc. See licensing.
How do you measure the results of an AR campaign?
Snap provides analytics for Lenses, including reach and engagement. We shape each Lens around the campaign goal and agree how results will be read before launch.
Where is The Augury based, and do you work remotely?
The studio is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Lenses are built and delivered digitally, and live-event work is scheduled project by project.
Is The Augury related to other companies called Augury?
